In Kenya, if you are living in an apartment, then it’s most likely that you are not living that dream kitchen you wish for. Talk about that jacuzzi most people yearn for or a walk-in shower. The reality of most people living in apartments is cramped space and no opportunity to make any adjustments. However, that does not mean that you can’t optimise the available space and make the bathroom look bigger. You don’t need to be a professional at interior design to make the most out of the available space. The following tips will help you in achieving that big bathroom look you wish for.

Better storage

Making the best out of storage space is very important for a small bathroom.  For most people, their bathrooms contain a lot of toiletries, which if they are lying around the place, the bathroom look clumsy hence making the small bathroom feel cluttered. Instead, you could invest in items that improve your organization, decrease clutter and create an open space. Such items include shelving units, expanding under-sink organizers, and compacting linen closets.

Also, you can choose to add a medicine cabinet which adds on storage and comes with a mirror, making the bathroom look bigger.

Declutter

This means getting rid of the things you don’t need or use anymore. This includes wall art and plants that make your bathroom look nice but small. Also, get rid of extra accessories to create a new bathroom environment and reorganize the bathroom to create space.

Light up space

Ever been to a bathroom space without any lighting? The bathroom looks smaller than it is. Lighting up the bathroom plays a big role in making it look bigger. For those that have windows in their bathroom, make use of light curtains that allow light into the bathroom while still giving you the privacy you need,

Also, light livens up rooms.  In place of the yellow bulbs, make use of the bright LED lights and if possible, install additional light fixtures to improve the lighting and attract the eyes.

Repaint

There is something about repainting your room that takes the lighting of the room to another notch. If you are living in the rental, you should first get cleared by the landlord before any further step. Once cleared, you can paint both the walls and the ceiling the same colour, to create the feeling of a larger room. Keep in mind that the goal is to have that soft light colour scheme all over the room, hence the need to choose a colour that is cohesive with the floor.

Additional mirrors

Bathroom mirrors play a big role in the general feeling of a huge space. This is because of their ability to reflect the light from the mirror, creating an illusion of a large space. Most likely your bathroom already has a large mirror, but additional small mirrors can help in creating that large bathroom feeling.

With the above bathroom design tips, you will transform your bathroom look to something attractive and big. Even if you don’t have the resources to do every trip, you can choose one or two that will do for you.
