Have you heard of the Mi Vida housing project approval in Kenya? If not, the project is a Ksh 12bn housing plan targeting middle-class city dwellers due to its affordability.

The project is being developed by an Indian property development arm, Shapoorji Pallonji Group and its joint partner Actis.  Actis is a leading growth market investor in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The director of the project has over 25 years of experience and also a firm technical background in the construction and real estate industries. Chris Coulson, the director, specialises in investment, emerging markets and development of real estate around the globe.

Note that  Mi Vida which is a Spanish name for my life will have 3 phases. Also, the project will be funded by the director hence they don’t rely on lenders or off-plan buyers to support the project.  This will allow the project to stick to its construction timeline of 24 months.

The first of this project will be done near Garden city with the phase of the project having 208 units.  However, there are a total of 628 awaiting development in the area and 3000 residents in Nairobi. According to the construction group, the project will include good-quality designs and good-quality finishes in each unit. This also comes with their promise to provide housing developments with integrity, offering great value for the people’s money; use of quality materials alongside world-class amenities to aid in bringing modern, thriving communities and quality lifestyles.

The approval of this project has set the construction in motion for the first phase of the project while the whole project is expected to have been completed in 24 months, 2 years.

The units of the project range from 1 bedroom to 3 bedrooms which will be on a 4.5-acre land, just off Thika Road, adjacent to the popular Garden City Mall. This project has already attracted more than 90 individuals who have already bought their units as an off-plan.

The director of the project noted in an interview that there is a high demand for quality affordable homes by the middle-income segment in the country but there is lack of institutional quality home builders with the expertise, funds and buyers’ trust necessary to address the situation. He also adds that Mi Vida’s mission is to close the gap for quality middle-income housing in Kenya.

Not only is the Mi Vida housing project affordable and of quality but incorporates unique health and sports facilities such as indoor and outdoor gyms with fitness studios, and multi-purpose sports.
