The Thika Road Superhighway which was completed in the year 2009 has become a major contributor in the Kenyan economy. The Highway which is 47 kilometres long links people from many towns in Kenya including Nairobi, Thika, Muranga, Nyeri, Meru, Embu, Kirinyaga etc. The Highway boasts of some of its great amenities such as malls, exclusive hotels, schools, hospitals and homes. Many people including investors from different parts of the country have made their way to the great superhighway in search of greener pastures.

These students prefer living in estates along the highway because they are relatively cheap and affordable. It is also accessible for students to attend school. This has also allowed investors to come up with housing for students. An example of student housing is the Qwetu Residence which has been well-received by both parents and students.

Due to the affordability of good housing along the busy road, businesses are also growing and coming up. This makes the highway suitable for people who are starting out as employees. It is also easy for them to access the capital city which is not more than 10 kilometers away. Despite the traffic jam experienced in the early morning and evening it is easy to commute to the city compared to the past when the highway was a dual carriage road and traffic was extremely bad. People would sit in traffic for hours. This was not attractive to investors hence the areas along the highway had not developed like now.

Apart from the craze and buzz along the highway, you can find comfort in some of the serene places such as hotels and malls. The great Safari Park Hotel which has been there for years is an exclusive hotel where you can hang out with your family and have good food as well as a good time. Other famous hotels along the highway include Roasters, The Luke Hotel, Jambo Grill, Teriyaki Japan etc.
